Homeopathy is a well-established system of natural healing, providing remedies to assist the patient in regaining health by stimulating the body’s natural forces of recovery.
It was developed over 200 years ago by German physician Samuel Hahnemann, who discovered a method for testing substances that he thought might be useful if practice.
He gave minute quantities of medicines to healthy subjects, and recorded the symptoms produced. These substances were found to cure the same symptoms in disease.
One of the principles underpinning homeopathy is that people vary in their response to an illness according to their basic temperament. It follows, then, that homoeopaths do not automatically prescribe a specific remedy for a specific illness. Instead, we try to determine the patient’s temperament and responses, and so prescribe on a more individual basis.
Patients suffering from the same illness often require different remedies. On the other hand, another group of patients, all with different diseases, may all benefit from the same remedy.
Because it works on many different levels, homeopathy can heal emotional as well as physical trauma and disease. Homeopaths are trained in the art of therapeutic listening, and recognise the importance of the person as a whole, and the influence of family, relationships and position in society on their patients’ health and well-being.
Homeopathy is free from toxicity and side effects, and is suitable for children and adults of all ages. Occasionally, a single session may be sufficient to set you on the road to recovery, but in most cases at least three or four are usually recommended. In this way, the immune system can be strengthened over time, making you less susceptible to illness.
With winter upon us, there has never been a better time to discover the benefits of homeopathy. If you would like to find out how homeopathy can help you, feel free to call me, in confidence, on 01908 584016 or contact me through Alternatives on 01908 526524
